Each TAFE college has an Aboriginal Education, Training and Employment Committee (AEETC). The AEETC advise and contribute to planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements of all Department funded programs which target Aboriginal Vocational Education and Training. The committees work closely with Aboriginal program staff in colleges to advise college management about issues relating to aspects of training for Aboriginal people including planning and allocation of training funds.
The Department of Education and Training has established Aboriginal Education
Advisory Councils in every education district. These councils are a
consultative mechanism for Aboriginal people to provide advice on issues that
impact on the education of Aboriginal students and to ensure that Aboriginal
perspectives and views are taken into account in local decision-making processes,
program development and service delivery. The
Aboriginal Education
Advisory Council Guidelines describe the role and responsibilities of these
Councils.
