Award winning students at John Tonkin College

John Tonkin College has been involved in the School Pathways Program – Defence Industries since 2010. The aim of the program is to encourage students in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) to seek education, training and employment in the Defence Industries.

At our recent Awards evening two students were awarded scholarships of $200 for Gold and Silver Awards and one student received $100 for the Bronze Award.

Ms Gail Manton, Program Manager for the Schools Pathways Program, attended the evening to present the scholarships to students.

The Bronze Defence Industries Scholarship went to Daniel Thurgood who was the highest achieving Engineering student in his class and he also made an outstanding contribution on an excursion to HMAS Stirling.

The Silver Defence Industry Scholarship was awarded to Ahmad Khan who was the top performing student in both Science and Mathematics in Year 10.

The winner of the Gold Defence Industries Scholarship was Zachary Macintyre who excelled in both Science and Mathematics to be the top performing student in both these subject areas in Year 11.
