Information on How to Train and Apply for a Teaching Position in the Department’s Swimming and Water Safety Program.

Introduction

The Department of Education is the largest employer of swimming instructors, employing more than 1,500 qualified swimming instructors in its Vacswim and Interm swimming programs. The Department’s preferred qualification is the AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Certificate or an equivalent.  Swimming teachers employed by the Department must  hold a current Working With Children Card and the National Criminal History Record Check issued by the Department.  For more information on these checks click here.
