Numeracy

The numeracy team provides advice and support to schools and networks in relation to the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics and relevant learning and teaching pedagogy.

Professional support for Numeracy Leaders, Teacher Development Schools, networks and schools consulting with the Expert Review Group includes:

• the provision of focused professional learning to school-based curriculum leaders to build their capacity to provide ongoing professional learning and support within schools and networks to improve children's development and learning in Mathematics
• consultation with regional offices and network principals to: establish effective ways of working to build numeracy practices in schools; advise and support implemention of Commonwealth and State initiatives; consultation and liaison with stakeholder groups and professional associations
• numeracy coaching to develop whole school planning, identify and implement practices and pedagogy relevant to the implementation of the Australian Curriculum
• resource development based on research and data analysis to inform contemporary numeracy practice; reviewing, revising and redeveloping existing online numeracy materials and producing new practical classroom resources to complement the implementation of the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics.
