Selective Languages Programs

Gifted children with linguistic abilities have the opportunity to develop their language skills to an advanced level, develop an appreciation and understanding of culture and enjoy a dynamic and challenging learning environment.

Specialised teachers, supported by native speaking assistants and tutors, develop children’s comprehension, spoken interaction and writing skills, extending their knowledge and use of cultural norms and practices. There are also opportunities for children to participate in overseas tours and exchange programs.

Languages available in 2019 are:

  • Chinese (Mandarin)
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese

Children can continue to study a language they started in primary school or choose a new language in Year 7. To find out which languages are offered at each school, please visit the school’s website or contact the school directly.

Selection into these programs is based on the results of the Selective Entrance Test combined with an interview.

As the program varies from school to school, please visit the school’s website or contact the school for more details.
